March Favourites

I think my Monthly Favourites posts are my 'favourite' kind of post to write, because I've been stoked to write this all month!

MUSIC

Favourite album:
For me, March was all about ‘Sinners Never Sleep' from You Me At Six. It’s been said that the band’s fourth album will be ready in 2014 so it’s good that people are still raving about older material. I love how mature this album sounds and it’s got some cracking songs on it. It’s nice to know there are some softer tracks on the record as well as the more gritty numbers. Fun fact:  I was listening to ‘This Is The First Thing' and ‘Little Bit Of Truth' when I decided to remake a blog from scratch. Those two songs are some of my favourite on the album but of course I love the ‘noisier’ songs when I’m feeling irritated! My favourite tracks are the two I mentioned above, ‘Bite My Tongue' and ‘No One Does It Better' That last one would feature on my ‘top favourite songs of all time’ list.

Favourite song: My favourite song this month is one that has been played so often on the radio recently. It’s called ‘Chocolate’ by The 1975 and it’s just…the catchiest song ever! It always makes me feel very happy and I feel even happier knowing I’m set to see the band play in September with some friends. Excited? YES! I also really like ‘The City' and if you haven’t heard Nina Nesbitt’s cover of ‘Chocolate’ for Radio 1 then you really should!

COSMETICS

This month, my favourite product has been MAC’s ‘Coffee’ eye pencil. I’ve been hunting for great brown kohl pencils for a while and I’ve seen so many makeup artists and YouTube gurus using this that I decided to try it for myself. My eyes are brown, and sometimes I need a softer, less bold eye for everyday makeup, so this is the pencil that gets used for that. I’ve also been using ‘The Falsies’ mascara by Maybelline every day as, again, this was raved about for some time before I purchased it. I recently wrote a full blog post on it which you can find in the little side bar under March.
FILM

Everyone has a childish side…right?! So one evening, because my friends and I found Nigel so funny, we decided to watch 'The Wild Thornberrys Movie'. I’m freely admitting that this is my favourite film for my March Favourites post. Nigel Thornberry is hilarious. Enough said!

READING

I’ve loved a couple of reads over the last month. I borrowed ‘Crocodile Tears' by Anthony Horowitz from a friend and, as usual with the Alex Rider Series, I got hooked and couldn’t put it down. And, as part of my English Literature course, I’m required to read ‘The Kite Runner' by Khaled Hosseini. From what I’ve read so far it’s a very heart-wrenching read, but often those kinds of stories are the best!
APPS AND GAMES

I downloaded an app a week ago called Sworkit Pro, a fitness app designed to show you statistics on how much exercise you have done in that day, week or month. It gives you a wide variety of exercises to choose from, ranging from cardio to yoga to back strength routines. I’ve so far avoided the back strength exercises and did develop some sore muscles the next day, but the app is brilliant for wanting to get a bikini body for summer!

I’ve also been addicted to an app called Hay Day. “Thank you” to Zoe, from Zoella, for talking about this app in a video and for making me addicted! I love it! You take ownership of a farm and gain enough points to proceed to higher levels in which you gain more farm essentials and accessories to become the ULTIMATE farmer. Sad? I think not! This the best game to play if you want to make your evening less boring.

SHOPPING
I had a wonderful trip to Westfield Stratford last month. Trips to Westfield always end up being the best shopping trips for me because I can find just about EVERYTHING. I think it’s my favourite place to shop. They’ve got a mahoosive Boots, an Apple store, Forever 21, Hollister, Gilly Hicks and of course, a MAC store. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Although I can’t just walk into these shops and buy everything at once, I have been picking up some lovely little bits here and there.

Gilly Hicks and Hollister have just introduced their S/S13 lines. That’s right; the brightly coloured beach shorts are BACK! I bought a lovely off-the-shoulder top from Gilly Hicks for £20 and I’ve got my eye on the denim Hollister waistcoat that all the mannequins are wearing. The only disappointment is I don’t currently like the look of the new Hollister t-shirt design. Perhaps I’ll warm up to them, but there’s something about them right now that doesn’t appeal to me.

Alas, that is my March Favourites blog post over! You have no idea how much I was looking forward to writing this!

What have you loved this last month?
