Music: 'Revelry', The Careful Ones

by - 01:07

If I haven't said this tonnes of times already, I'm always excited to hear new music and I love how the Internet allows you to easily share it. This one came in the form of a YouTube video made by Bertie Gilbert. If you haven't heard of Bertie (A.K.A BertiebertG on YouTube), it's the perfect time to mention he's a wonderful film-maker. Along with some fine camera work by Liam Bokser and Alex Carter, and some awesome visual effects by Michael Dean, a video to 'Revelry' by The Careful Ones was born.

I'm in love with this song.

I would say it's alternative, very soulful (like most of their album) and in a folky way. Great for relaxing on a quiet day to yourself! Perfectly smooth vocals and percussion galore, 'Revelry' has been on repeat for SO LONG. It sounds like a more upbeat song on the album which I find is sometimes a nice change. The instrumental feels like a pivotal moment in the song - I love it when that happens! - and this is also reflected in Bertie's video which I'm always looking for when I watch music videos. I like it when a video 'Mickey Mouses' the action onscreen i.e. eye movements with the drum beats.

You can download 'Revelry' on iTunes along with The Careful Ones' debut album 'Moths, Flames, Etc.'. If you're anything like me in that you love some fret squeaks sliding between chords and melancholy string and piano parts, this is a wonderful album to fulfill this need.

And while you do that, I've linked Bertie's video to this post so you can admire the talent and hardwork that went into making it.
