Five Songs; Five Bands - Music Must Hears

by - 05:30

I've been listening to a TONNE of bands recently and I decided to put together this post sharing some of my favourite tracks and why I love them so much. Without further ado, here's the first track:

'Chemicals' by Various Cruelties
If you're like me and you love throwing your hair around, this is the song to do it to. There's something about this song that kind of resembles a new beginning (perfect for the change of season - bring on Autumn!). Whatever the lyrics truly mean, you can fit them to any situation you're facing. The crashing of the drums make me feel euphoric and the fast paced and vibrant music video is perfect. And the guitars! You'll have to hear them to understand my state of ineffability.

Tonight, we'll spin around the planets like a satellite...put your faith, put your trust, in the chemicals.

'Lived A Lie' by You Me At Six
You Me At Six have done it again, and by that I mean they've completely blown my socks to Saturn and back with this fiery little number. This is the first single of the upcoming album 'Cavalier Youth'. People have feared this rock band is becoming a little too " contemporary pop". In my opinion, this song is perfect. I can just picture it now. Sixers leaping up and down to this song in concert with raised arms and many high spirits, just like the older material! So You Me At Six left us with a bang last year with the Final Night of Sin at Wembley Arena. Thankfully, I think it looks like they're going to come back with an even bigger bang. Just let me take a moment...

We are believers...we are, we are.

'Can We Dance' by The Vamps
I don't want to call them 'new kids on the block' - waaaay too cheesy, even for me! They sound so good it's like they've been around forever anyway! These guys are my definition of a One Direction and McFly lovechild. I was lucky enough to see The Vamps play live at Summer In The City this summer and fell in love at the very first note (check out 'Wild Heart' and tell me if you loved it!). This is the debut single 'Can We Dance' and the video is sooo fun and lively! It's definitely a 'perfect ten' (bad joke) from me!

Don't mind all my friends; I know they're all crazy, but they're the only friends that I have.

'Didn't See It Coming' by ParachuteI must have raved about this song in the last post, but nothing's stopping me from doing it all over again! I ADORE this tune off Parachute's new album 'Overnight'. By now you must have understood my love for them, right?! I love this song because of how different it is to the average Parachute song. I love those soft tracks, but the spoken word verses are just so refreshing, even if they were originally just a filler for actual singing while the song was in the demo stages. I'm so glad they kept that little touch in there because the song just wouldn't be the same without it! I also tend to get a little bit lost while hearing the bridge too.

I had missed it all like tears in the rain...

'Girls' by The 1975
Any band that sounds slightly eighties stylie is the ONE! As usual The 1975 are jamming out explicit topics using genius lyrics. 'Girls' has undoubtedly been my favourite tune on the radio (along with Lived A Lie). This Friday I'll be seeing them live and I. Cannot. Wait. Expect a very excitable post next Monday guys!

She can't be what you need if she's seventeen...they're just girls.

Well there you have it! I've spoiled you with some of my favouritest songs of the moment. I only realised halfway through writing this that these songs are actually all by bands - this is clearly telling me something about the collective talent that's out there right now. It's also lovely to see all of these guys playing instruments in songs rather than just crafting a song out of waaay too much synthetic stuff!

I hope you all have a fantastic week and I'll see you on the B side!

P.S. If you've heard and enjoyed any of these songs, please let me know so we can freak out about them together. ;)
